Let’s be honest, the past year and half has not been easy on anyone. Not even the fruits!
Blackberries themselves are having trouble. All over the world the production rate is low. This is due to labor shortages, weather and weak variety growth. The summer heat of 2021, was the demise of farmers and the fruit. Blackberries along with many other fruits, baked and perished on the bush.
But that isn’t stopping people from enjoy the tart berries! The popularity of blackberries has continued to grow. This creates a high demand market raising the cost for the ‘hard to come by’ fruits. Prices in 2020 for blackberries were $3.90/kilo and now they are $8.21/kilo increasing by the day.
