OUR ROOTS RUN DEEP
Cream Ridge Winery was founded in 1988 by Tom Amabile and his wife, Joan. Together, they set out to produce sweet, fruit-froward wines that paid homage to Tom's Italian winemaking roots while showcasing the unique fruits that make New Jersey such a special place to grow and craft wine.
For 38 years, Tom and Joan's philosophy has remained at the heart of the winery:
lead with kindness, listen to customers, and help each guest find the right wine for every moment.
That commitment continues to make Cream Ridge Winery a welcoming destination where every visitor leaves not just with a bottle, but as a friend.
In 2012, Tom’s son Jerry, along with close friends Tim and Jackie Schlitzer, took over the winery as Tom and Joan retired. The trio had previously run a freeze-dried fruit business, sourcing organic fruits from farmers across the U.S. and South America.
Embarking on this next journey and continuing Cream Ridge’s fruit-forward focus was a natural fit.
Jerry brought his signature charisma and long-standing expertise in the specialty food industry, leading external sales and community outreach with the same spirit of kindness and connection that defines Cream Ridge Winery.
​Tim adds a passion for wine education and community programming, with a background in leading non-profit organizations, producing Emmy-winning documentaries, and later authoring The Art of Enology: A Winemaker’s Lessons for a Fruitful Life, reflecting on the winery’s values.
​Jackie brings the energy and operational expertise behind it all, managing vineyard and agricultural operations, inventory, and facilities to keep the winery running smoothly and welcoming to all.
Our 14-acre property includes honey bee colonies, grape and blackberry fields, and on-site winemaking facilities where we craft wines from both our own harvests and fruit sourced from local farms.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We’re a mission-driven winery focused on building community and expanding our customer’s wine palettes through education. We donate proceeds from select wines including Poco Loco, Tropical Storm, and Passionfruit to causes close to our hearts.
Cream Ridge Winery offers year-round tastings and special events featuring New Jersey-grown fruits, farm-fresh sangrias, and local talent, reinforcing its role as an agri-tourism destination.
